With the MVP Multifocal, you can enjoy freedom from wearing reading glasses.

The MVP Multifocal is an advanced contact lens design that helps you see all distances:  near, intermediate, and far away.  If you notice...

the lens name is actually MVP Multifocal instead of bifocal.  That's because unlike a bifocal, the multifocal correction gradually changes from near to distant.  This is similar to the new transgressive eyeglasses.  This gradual correction is beneficial in many ways.

First, it eliminates the problems associated with line or image jump.  In bifocals (contacts or glasses), when you change your glance from near to distant (or vis versa), the quick change from one spectrum to the other causes aggravation, and sometimes dizziness, and often makes one loose their focus.  The MVP Multifocal Incorporates a gradual change, offering the wearer a smooth transition all the way from distant to near.

ImageSecondly, the MVP Multifocals are advantageous because they are easier to prescribe.  This means that more people are candidates, possibly you.  Without the need for measurements like segment height and tools like prism and truncation, the MVP contact lens is easier for your eye care professional (ECP’s) to prescribe and dispense the contacts to you.  The MVP can be as conveniently prescribed as standard single vision contact lenses.

Thirdly, the MVP is what’s called an aspheric multifocal.  This means several things.  The lens can rotate in your eye without causing vision distortion, whereas, if a bifocal rotates, vision will definitely be distorted (see image).  Because the MVP is aspheric, it allows your programmed instincts of the eye to use the portion of the lens that is best suited (hence the name ‘multi’focal) .  So intermediate distances like the computer become very clear with the MVP Multifocal.

Many ECP’s have already become big supporters of the MVP Multifocal.  ABBA Optical, the manufacturer, also makes available an inventory system, called the MVP Dispensing System, that many of these ECP’s have purchased.  The inventory system allows ECP’s the ability to prescribe the contact lenses on routine eye exam visits, where traditionally, an exam is given first, then the lenses have to be made, and at least one follow up visit is necessary.  Also, while the MVP can be prescribed for a wide ranges of wearers, it is not for everyone, so the inventory system quickly gives the doctor and patient the ability to try them out.
