Over the last several years I have worked with challenging patients often referred to me by other eye care practitioners. Some of the most challenging have been fitting contact lenses to correct distance and near vision. However, a new contact lens called the MVP Multifocal has taken many of the challenges away, converting former non contact lens candidates into great candidates.
In years past, there have been few reliable options for people seeking a presbyopic correction (people needing correction for both distance and near vision) with contact lenses. Contacts for Monovision, which splits correction to one eye for near and one for distance, have a somewhat mixed success rate. In the past, soft multifocal contact lenses have displayed low success rates and often lack the visual acuity required leaving many patients who desired to get away from glasses or ‘readers’ discouraged.
